Jana Rothbauer, OTR, CLT-LANA, is a licensed occupational therapist certified in autism, lymphedema and infant massage.
Early Career
Jana Rothbauer graduated from Texas Woman’s University in 1996. Immediately after graduation, she began working at Dallas Rehabilitation Institute. During her time there, she worked with spinal cord injuries, brain injuries, amputees, stroke patients, post-polio survivors. She received training at Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago to obtain advanced skills with spinal cord injuries. In that time, Jana assisted with adaptive equipment for patients, including building an accessible crib for a paraplegic mother, sewing adaptive clothing for patients, and setting up environmental controls for patients with spinal cord injuries.
In 1998, Jana joined Easter Seals of Greater Dallas. During that time, she worked with children with developmental delays, cerebral palsy, orthopedic issues, and visual impairment. Jana received clinical education in a variety of areas and obtained certification in infant massage and taught community based classes. Jana served as clinic manager, as well.
In 2000, Jana transitioned to Lakewood Pediatric Therapy providing sensory integration therapy to children presenting with a variety of developmental concerns, including autism. During this time, she focused on more training in the area of sensory integration.
In 2001, Jana decided to stay home with her new and growing family. In 2002, she began working for the Baylor system as a PRN occupational therapist. She started with weekend days only, then progressing in availability as the kids entered school. For the last 20 years, Jana has had the opportunity to work in the acute setting, acute inpatient rehabilitation setting, outpatient setting, and lymphedema clinic setting. The variety of settings has allowed her to see many aspects of injury, recovery, and adaptation.
In her time working at the Baylor Sammons Cancer lymphedema clinic, Jana contributed her time and training to publish a research article, “Describing Lymphedema in Females with Turner Syndrome”, and maintains an ongoing relationship with the Turner Syndrome Society of United States.
Jana worked for Baylor Uptown for 2 years in 2016-18, in a fast paced orthopedic setting, learning the specifics on joint replacement and various surgical applications. She also worked as PRN briefly for Texas Scottish Rite hospital, learning the very specific services they provide and gaining an understanding of how patients navigate the TSRH system. These two work settings provided an even broader depth of understanding orthopedic management. While continuing with Baylor, Jana worked at a local clinic providing pediatric occupational therapy. She spent two years there, gaining specialization in autism, and continuing to broaden her knowledge in sensory integration.
